How to Create a Custom Character on Spicy Chat
This guide explains how to design your own AI companion on Spicy Chat at spicyai.app/spicy-chat — from sign-in to your first in-character conversation.
What you need
Sign in to your Spicy AI account at spicyai.app. Character creation is available to logged-in users from the Spicy Chat hub.
Create a character in five steps
On spicyai.app/spicy-chat:
- Tap Create Character in the character hub
- Set a name and short tagline — this appears in the directory and chat header
- Write personality and description — tone, speaking style, boundaries, and backstory help the model stay in character
- Add tags and an avatar image — tags improve search; avatars make profiles recognizable
- Save, then tap Start Chat to open your first session
Private vs public characters
By default, characters you create are private — visible only in your account. Private companions are ideal for personal roleplay and ongoing story arcs.
Public listing may be available for approved characters and places them in the Spicy Chat directory where other users can discover and chat with them.
Tips for better roleplay
Strong character cards lead to stronger Spicy Chat sessions:
- Be specific about voice and mannerisms — "speaks in short, teasing sentences" beats "flirty"
- Set the scene in your opening message — location, mood, and relationship status
- Use the same character for follow-up images or video on Spicy AI to keep visuals consistent

Can guests create characters?
No. Sign in to Spicy AI to access the Create Character flow on Spicy Chat.
Can I edit a character later?
Yes. Open the character card menu on Spicy Chat and choose Edit Character to update fields.
How do I make a character public?
Public listing depends on platform rules and admin approval. Private characters remain visible only to you.
What avatar formats are supported?
Upload a standard image format for the character portrait. Clear, well-lit faces work best if you later use talking avatar or image-to-video tools.
Will my character appear on Google?
Public character profiles on spicyai.app may be indexed as individual pages. Private characters are not listed in the public directory.
